Question 1

What’s the difference between the leases?

Accepted Answer

Cook Up Lease ($50) is MP3 + WAV with usage caps and no stems. Cook Unlimited Lease ($150) adds unlimited distributions, audio streams, video streams and music videos, plus the trackout stems on beats that have them. Beats marked No stems come as MP3 + WAV with the same unlimited rights. Performances remain limited to 400 paid and 4,000 non-profit shows. Exclusive Rights takes the beat off the market entirely.

Question 2

Can I use these for trail rides and live sets?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Cook Up Lease covers 2,000 non-profit and 200 paid performances, 1 music video, 7,500 paid downloads or physical sales, 10,000 audio streams and 10,000 video streams. The sales, audio-stream and video-stream limits apply separately. Cook Unlimited allows unlimited distributions, audio streams, video streams and music videos, with up to 4,000 non-profit and 400 paid performances. Both leases last one year and include a $1,000 performance-profit limit.

Question 3

How do I credit and register the producer?

Accepted Answer

Credit me as Produced by Let That Boy Cook. When you register the song with your PRO, list every writer, including me: Nicholas Walton Harris (Let That Boy Cook), BMI, writer IPI 655664121 (or my BMI name LET THAT BOY COOK, IPI 01374498408), 50% writer share and 50% publisher share. I collect my 50% of the song’s mechanical royalties through my own administrator, so don’t add my share to your distributor’s publishing service. Send the title, release date and ISRC to beats@letthatboycook.com.

Question 4

How do payments work?
